Free Software and its creators and users are not, as a group, antimarket or anticommercial; they are not, as a group, anti– intellectual property or antigovernment; they are not, as a group, pro- or anti- anything. In fact, they are not really a group at all: not a corporation or an organization; not an NGO or a government agency; not a professional society or an informal horde of hackers; not a movement or a research project.

El Software Libre y sus creadores y usuarios no son, como grupo, antimercado o anticomercio; no son, como grupo, anti-propiedad intelectual o antigobierno; no son, como grupo, pro- ni anti- nada. De hecho, no son realmente un grupo en absoluto: ni una corporación u organización, ni una O.N.G. o agencia gubernamental; ni una sociedad profesional o una horda informal de hackers; ni un movimiento o proyecto de investigación.
